Code2Discover Kids: Building a Medieval Watchtower in Minecraft

My son is an avid Minecraft builder.  So, I asked him to create a lesson for me on how to build a structure of his choosing in Minecraft.  The video below shows you how to create a Medieval Watchtower.

The experience of creating the video was great for my son because he had to apply his creativity to something real: a video for his dad’s YouTube channel.  He came up with a plan for what he was going to build and how he was going to communicate it.

As a father of 4 kids, I try to put my them into situations where they can apply their creativity to real-world challenges.  I encourage them to start businesses, create their own website, make a video game and so on.  I believe this helps them become more innovative and better problem solvers.  Skills that are essential in today’s world.

I mention this also because many of the classes I teach come from dreams I have for my own kids.  I want them to become more innovative and creative because I think they will need these skills to be happy and successful.

Share the video below with your own kids if they want to learn how to create a new build in Minecraft.
