At Create2Discover, we teach kids ages 7-14 through online classes to use creating to discover their creativity, their ability, and maybe even their future. Through the creation of video games, Minecraft mods, and more, students learn the skills they need to prepare for a rapid changing future and create opportunities and fulfillment for themselves.
Our online classes are offered via the Outschool platform and Zoom. Many of our classes have both a live option and a self-paced option. Live classes meet 1x per week for 6-8 weeks. In the self-paced option, students learn through interactive lessons and videos.
We believe students gain future-ready skills by actively creating and bringing new things into existence. When students work on creating their own video game, virtual world, business, app, or invention, they are forced to improve in these critical areas.
When it comes to deciding between live and self-paced classes for your child, understanding their unique needs, learning preferences, and personality can help you make the best choice. Both formats have their advantages, and the right choice will depend on what suits your child best.
“Kye absolutely loved this class and is looking forward to the level 2. Shawn is excellent with the kids – he has them all fully engaged and is patient and kind in his interactions. Lots of fun and a great safe environment – don’t hesitate!.” –Kristen W, Parent
“My son (8 1/2) really enjoyed this class, and he learned so much! The instructor did a great job helping him think and work through problems. He feels really proud that he coded his own game!” -Heather, Parent
“My daughter really enjoyed this class. She looked forward to working on new coding exercises each day. The teacher was extremely helpful. Any time my daughter had a glitch in her coding, Shawn had a solution to help her through it. We’ve already signed up for the Level 2 course so she can learn more.” -Aimee F, Parent
“This has been a great experience for my son. Shawn is an excellent teacher who brings a real positive energy to his class, ensures all students have equal opportunity to participate and share their work, and supports and praises each child without fail. The course would benefit anyone interested in coding and game design with little or no previous experience. Students learn to create and develop their own worlds by designing the landscape and adding characters which they learn to code, ultimately leading to a game they have created which they can publish. I highly recommend this course and Shawn as a teacher.” -Melissa S, Parent
